Hair transplants for women

Women are undergoing hair transplants more and more often. This is quite logical, as for most women it’s a nightmare to lose hair excessively. Thinning hair, receding hairline, bald spots and extreme hair loss, they are often experienced as horrifying. At Omorfy we are specialised in women’s hair transplants to recreate luscious and thick hair.

Omorfy employs a female doctor with many years of expertise in the area. We also have a team consisting entirely of women to guide the client through the transplantation process. From preparations and advice to aftercare and after-treatment to stimulate hair growth, we’ll make sure your hair once again looks beautiful.

Women undergo hair transplants more often

The prevalence of hair loss in women is increasing worldwide. There are many possible causes for hair loss in women. The most common cause for hair loss in women is androgenetic alopecia. This affliction is hereditary and occurs in approximately 15% of women before menopause. Other causes include stress, unbalanced hormones and medication.

As they get older, baldness increases even in women. A hair transplant is a good solution to get rid of bald spots. This process starts with a thorough and free consultation. During this consultation we’ll, among other things, discuss your expectations. What do you expect from a hair transplant? And, most importantly, can we meet these expectations? By comparing pictures of clients with a comparable situation you’ll get an idea of the possibilities. In our clinic privacy and trust in the outcome are deemed essential.

A hair transplant doesn’t always have to be the first solution.

Hair transplantation treatments for women

Treatment on top of the head

The most common area of hair loss in women is the top of the head. The hair thins out and the middle parting often becomes wider. To treat this area, hairs from the back of the head are moved to the receiving area, which is the thinning part.

Lowering the hairline

Is your hairline naturally high up and would you like to change that? We can implant hairs with high density to create a lower hairline.

Bald spot or scar

Do you have a bald spot or a scar where hair doesn’t grow? We can transplant hairs to these areas. For a scar transplantation we have to first determine the quality of the skin.

Eyebrows

Eyebrows play an important part in facial expressions. Attractive eyebrows give women a well-groomed appearance. Omorfy can create natural results through eyebrow transplants.

Hair transplantation without shaving

During male transplants, the whole head is usually shaved. When treating women, only a part of the donor area – the area to the back and sides of the head – is shaved. As a result, the remaining hairs in the donor area will cover up the shaved area nicely after the treatment. Around the receiving area some hair has to be removed a well to be able to implant more closely.

In most cases, we can carry out a hair transplant at Omorfy. Book a consultation to find out which treatment suits you best

FUE hair transplantation treatment

Omorfy carries out hair transplantations by means the latest methods: the micro-FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) method using a Sapphire Blade. First, the area of treatment is numbed through local anaesthesia.  Next, the hair follicles, also called grafts, are taken from the donor area. This area is located at the back of the head. The hair follicles are “harvested” using a small hollow needle approximately 0.7 mm in diameter. During this process, the grafts are simultaneously sorted by a specialist and stored in a special nutritious fluid.

After this, the doctor prepares the receiving area by making small incisions in which the hair follicles will be put. A technician then places the grafts, aiming to achieve a natural looking hair density.

When the treatment has been finished, the doctor runs a full inspection and photographs are taken. You will be given  instructions and supplies needed for aftercare. Our doctors and technicians use precision equipment which makes for a very small recovery period. Your donor and receiving area will be healed fast.

Hair transplants are safe and proven treatments which you’ll enjoy for the rest of your life.

After treatment, your Omorfy technician will regularly contact you. On day 3 and 7 after treatment you will be given a hair wash at our clinic. This way it’s easier for us to support you through the most important week of your recovery and monitor the result optimally at the same time.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is a hair transplant possible for women?

Women can also experience hair loss, just like men. Baldness is for women is even more annoying. A woman’s hair can be transplanted just as easily as a man’s. New techniques and refinement of methods make it possible to implant hair on a woman without shaving everything. This has made it more attractive for women to have a hair transplant performed. At Omorfy we specialize in women and can do a lot about hair loss without it becoming more visible. Consult the doctor, book a free consultation to see what is possible.

  • Can a hair transplant be done without shaving?

Only a small strip in the donor area needs to be shaved short. We do this, and if the surrounding hairs are long enough, they will fall over the shaved part after the procedure. Also, the use of precision instruments gives a fast recovery time for the recipient and donor area. In addition, we have other techniques that may make the hair transplant less visible or not visible. Make an appointment and ask for free personal advice whether the hair transplant can be performed without shaving.

  • Am I suitable for a hair transplant?

This is an important question that we must answer in the first consultation. Not every woman is suitable and the cause of hair loss must also be determined. But even if a hair transplant would always be a solution, there are sometimes better options. For a woman’s hair transplant, it is important to determine whether the donor area has sufficient suitable hair. The reception area should also be further investigated. Women who suffer from androgenetic alopecia can have it treated with a hair transplant. Alopecia areata, on the other hand, is not suitable for a hair transplant.

  • Is a hair transplant for frizzy hair also possible?

Omorphy specializes in frizzy hair transplantation. Yes, it is certainly possible to fix baldness of frizzy hair with a transplant. Frizzy hair transplants take extra time, removing them requires special expertise from the hair technician. Make an appointment with the team to explore the possibilities.

  • What causes hair loss for women?

Androgenetic alopecia, hereditary hair loss, is the leading cause of hair loss for women. It is also known as male pattern baldness. It is transmitted through the parents, father or mother, where the hair falls out under the influence of the male hormone testosterone. Female hair loss usually has a diffuse pattern, the hair loss takes place spread over the head and makes the hair thinner. In men you often see a receding hairline and enlarging coves and then a thin crown. Men can go completely bald, this is less common in women. Women also have testosterone in the blood, but the amount is much lower than in men. There can also be other, sometimes temporary, conditions and factors that cause hair loss. This includes medication use, hormonal changes, stress and a lack of certain vitamins and minerals.

  • Is a hair transplant permanent?

We get the hairs that are transplanted from the area that is insensitive to hereditary hair loss. Implants from that area are thus permanently in the receiving area.

  • Is a hair transplant on a scar possible?

Do you have a scar on your head where no hairs grow? Then we may be able to transplant hairs here again. In any case, it must be determined in advance how the skin of the scar is. We will discuss the options during a free consultation.

  • Why do you want a hair transplant as a woman?

It gives you back your old familiar look. You don’t have to be difficult with your haircut to camouflage the hair loss, it gives you freedom again and strengthens your self-confidence. Small imperfections can be removed and a hairline that is too high can be lowered.

  • How long does a hair transplant for women take?

A hair transplant is a labour-intensive procedure. Because we want to shave as little as possible, the removal also takes longer than with men. One by one we remove the hairs from the donor area. Then the hairs are selected. Making the channels for placing the hairs in the new area also needs to be done very accurately. For women, it takes extra time to implant the hairs just right between the other longer hairs. A women’s hair transplant takes six to eight hours.

  • Where do the new hairs come from?

Omorphy works with the FUE method and the hairs are removed from the area that is immune to the hereditary hair loss. The implants therefore come from the crown of hair, the back of the head. This immunity to the hormone attack is carried over when the hairs are transplanted.
