Hair Transplantation

Hair transplants are considered normal by men and women more and more. You read about them often and it’s not just stars getting treatment. Nonetheless, there are still a lot of questions about the implantation of hairs. Omorfy wants hair transplants to be accessible to anyone, including you. That’s why we will explain anything you need to know about what happens before, during and after the treatment on this page.

Hair transplantation for starting hair loss

Do you suffer from commencing baldness? Do you increasingly find hairs on your pillow, in your drain or on the floor? Then you probably suffer from excessive hair loss. It annoys some more than others, but it affects both men and women.

In men, baldness first becomes visible due to a receding hair line and thinning patches of hair. With women the hairline recedes, or the hair thins to the point of bald patches. Pills or shampoos won’t let your hair grow back. The baldness is more and more noticeable and annoying.

A hair transplant is a solution against baldness. It permanently remedies bald or thinning patches of hair. The hair we replace will grow for the rest of your life. Do note: a hair transplant alone does not stop hair loss. During a free consultation we will inform you about possible ways of solving this.

FUE hair transplant

“More support and attention for now and for the future”

A hair transplant doesn’t always have to be the first solution..

During a hair transplant

During a hair transplant hair follicles from the back of your head are moved to the hairline and crown area. Hair follicles are also called grafts and can contain 1 to 4 hairs.

The donor area is located at the sides and back of your head. The hair follicles in this area don’t fall out and aren’t affected by dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is responsible for hair follicles dying off early. This hormone is the main reason for men going bald at a later age. The whole hair follicle, including its DNA, is transplanted. As a result, the hairs in this type of transplantation will never fall out again.

How does a hair transplant work?

  • Your scalp is put under local anaesthesia, because the transplantation can take a while. It is a possible to administer the anaesthetic without using a needle.
  • A hair technician takes the genetically viable transplants – hair follicles with hair and stem cell – out of the donor area with great precision. This extraction is carried out by means of a hollow needle with a diameter of approximately 0.7 mm. The grafts are taken out with a pair of tweezers and put into a special fluid.
  • The surgeon then proceeds to create small holes in the receiving area. These are called incisions. This has to be done very precisely to make sure that the implants can be placed properly and grow in the direction they’re supposed to.
  • During the transplant we carry out an extra treatment that increases the growth factor in the receiving area. This makes for increased hair growth.
  • After making the incisions the transplants are placed back with the help of tweezers.
  • Finally, we’ll perform the hair transplant aftercare in the clinic and we’ll explain about aftercare at home.

Hair transplants are proven and safe treatments which you will enjoy for the rest of your life.

Hair transplants at Omorfy

At Omorfy, we offer the following hair transplantation treatments for men and women:

Can a hair transplant achieve what I want?

This is the first question we’ll answer during a consultation. People have different origins, skins and types of hair. This influences the possibilities that hair transplants offer. Besides, there may also be physical factors influencing the quality of a transplant. Think, for instance, of matters like the quality and size of the donor area. All these things play a role in the possible result of your hair transplant.

An important question for you to answer is whether this result fits your expectations. At Omorfy we can carry out a treatment for most situations. Book a non-binding appointment to see whether a hair transplant is suitable for you.

Hair transplant methods FUE and FUT

There are basically two methods for hair transplantation:

At Omorfy we aim for beauty. This is why we only use the FUE method. In this section, we’ll tell you why we chose the FUE method over the FUT method.

FUE method hair transplants

FUE stands for Follicular Unit Extraction, a method where the hair follicles are extracted from the donor area one by one, using a hollow needle. When carried out correctly, this doesn’t leave visible scars. As mentioned before Omorfy uses this FUE method.

The quality of the treatment is decided by many factors:

  • The medical team, led by a surgeon who is responsible for the treatment and makes all the incisions.
  • The hair technicians who need to be well trained and have an important and precise role in the execution of the hair transplant. They spend many hours on removing and placing the implants and the aftercare.
  • The optimal choice of instruments. Even the smallest instrument plays a big role in the final result of the treatment.

With the FUE method all hair follicles, also known as grafts, are removed with a hollow needle one at a time. This needle has a diameter of 0.7 mm and is used to loosen one group of hair roots per go, which are then taken out. The direction in which the hair follicles are taken out is also important for the quality and survival chance of the transplant. With this meticulous extraction method, an experienced hair technician can decide the exact angle needed.

Using a pair of tweezers, the technician takes the follicle out of the scalp. Then the grafts are placed into a special fluid which will keep the roots of the hair healthy until the time of  implantation.

Omorfy keeps investing in the development of this method, amongst others by means of ongoing research. As said, Omorfy stores hair follicles in a special fluid between taking them out and putting them back in. Omorfy carries out research in order to better storage life and nutritional value of this fluid.

FUT-method hair transplants

The difference between the FUE and FUT methods lies primarily in the way that the grafts are extracted. The FUE method, as explained before, entails us taking the grafts out individually. With the FUT method a surgeon removes a strip of scalp from which the hair follicles are taken. This obviously leaves a scar. This scar is the biggest downside of the ‘Strip’ or FUT- method.

This methods originates from the 1960s when hair transplants were only available to a limited group of people. In the last 20 years hair transplants have become popular all over the world, mostly due to the development of the FUE method. The FUE method, when carried out correctly, leaves no visible scars.

Omorfy strives for beauty, achieved by means of the latest technologies. The FUT method has contributed greatly to the development of hair transplants in the past, but doesn’t suit Omorfy’s philosophy.

Hair transplants: find out more about the possibilities

The first step towards a hair transplant is, of course, a free consultation. During this meeting we’ll check whether the client is suitable for a treatment and what the expected result would be. A consultation can take place from a distance as well. Sending pictures of the area to be treated is necessary with this kind of consultation. When we have collected all the necessary information, we can make an estimation of the costs.

If the client is interested we’ll plan the whole trajectory, from intake to aftercare and even washing sessions at Omorfy.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are the costs for a consultation?

A consultation with us is without obligation and free of charge. During the consultation, your situation will be discussed in detail and a treatment plan drawn up. After consultation you can immediately schedule a treatment or think about it calmly. Because Omorphy has 5 luxurious treatment rooms, there are no waiting times. This means that you can be treated in the short term. Book a free consultation with the button at the top of this page

  • How many treatments do I need?

This depends on the area you want to treat. If you have the coves or only the crown treated, 1 treatment is sufficient. If you want to have the entire head treated, several treatments are needed. 9-12 months after the treatment, the final result is visible and the donor area has fully recovered.

  • Is a hair transplant painful?

The anesthetic we use is needleless. Needleless anesthesia is done with a special pen that presses the anesthetic under the skin. This is a painless operation. After the needleless anesthetization, we will anesthetize the anesthetized area additionally, but because the area is already anesthetized, you will not experience any pain. You will not experience any pain during the treatment because the entire treated area is numbed.

  • Where are the donor hairs taken from?

The donor hair is taken from the back and sides of the head. These hairs are not sensitive to the hormone that causes the hair loss. You can also see this in men who are almost completely bald. A wreath always remains and these hairs are suitable for transplantation. Because these hairs are not sensitive to the hormone, we give a lifetime guarantee on the permanent result of the transplanted hair. Keep in mind that the process of hair loss of the hairs that are still there will continue. Our specialized doctor can guide you in this process to inhibit or even stop the further course of hair loss.
